Behind the Move – Supporting the Future of Non-GMO Soy Processing in Germany
Central Oceans recently completed a major heavy-lift logistics project, bringing together our teams in Europe and China to support the expansion of a vital processing facility in Germany.
This plant plays a key role in the food and biofuels sector. It processes oilseeds and fruits, extracts soy lecithins, and produces high-quality animal feed and soy protein — all essential for sustainable food systems.
With demand for non-GMO soybeans growing across Europe, particularly in human and animal nutrition, the facility is ramping up its capacity to support more sustainable, locally sourced production.
At the heart of this project was the transport of a critical component: a 340-metric-ton unit measuring 19.6 meters in length and width, and 9.2 meters in height.
Moving a unit of this size required months of planning — from route assessments to complex lifting studies. In China, our team executed the transport using Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMTs), heavy-lift floating cranes, and a deck barge.
The unit was then transferred onto a heavy-lift vessel and secured under deck for its journey to Germany. Once there, it will be installed as part of the plant’s upgraded production line.
This project is a clear example of Central Oceans’ ability to manage the safe and efficient delivery of large-scale industrial equipment across continents — on time, and in full coordination with our client’s evolving needs.
