Chemistry with Shipping!

Last week, our team in China warmly welcomed the MV Bigroll Beaufort as it arrived in China waters. Renowned for its innovative design, the MV Bigroll Bering is a module carrier capable of transporting the heaviest and largest modules in the world. During its visit, the vessel was entrusted with the task of loading material for an MDI (methylene diphenyl diisocyanate) plant in the USA , capitalizing on its exceptional heavy-lift capabilities.

Our team provided comprehensive assistance during the vessel’s port call, ensuring a seamless operation while extending full local support. We want to thank all stake holders for their support into making this call a success. The team is already working on the next call and eagerly anticipates the next vessel for this project arriving in about a month’s time!

The equipment loaded onboard will be for the third and final phase of a methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) expansion project in the South of the USA. The third and final phase will add new upstream units and a splitter. Leveraging state-of-the-art technology, the expansion will showcase the highest safety standards combined with advanced digitalization in its operations.

Once completed, the plant will increase production capacity to approximately 600,000 metric tons per year by the middle of the decade to support the ongoing growth of its North American customers base. The investment for this final expansion phase, which takes place from 2022 to 2025, amounts to USD 780 million.
